Surfing Ericeira
Europe's only World Surfing Reserve. Here's everything you need to know about surfing here.
Ericeira has been a World Surfing Reserve since 2011 — one of only a handful in the world. With over 7 km of coastline packed with world-class waves, it offers something for every level. From mellow beach breaks perfect for beginners to heavy reef breaks that challenge the pros, Ericeira is a surfer's paradise just 35 minutes from Lisbon.
Ribeira d'Ilhas
One of Europe's most iconic waves, Ribeira d'Ilhas hosts WSL competitions and offers long, fun rides for all levels. The right-hand point break peels along the cliff, providing consistent surf in most conditions.
Coxos
Considered one of the best waves in Europe, Coxos is a powerful, hollow right that breaks over a rocky reef. Reserved for experienced surfers only — the paddle-out and takeoff are not for the faint-hearted.
Foz do Lizandro
A wide, sandy beach break at the mouth of the Lizandro river. Gentle waves and a sandy bottom make it the perfect spot for beginners and surf schools. Great for longboarding on smaller days.
São Lourenço
A beautiful beach with multiple peaks offering both lefts and rights. Works best on smaller swells in summer, making it a go-to for intermediate surfers looking for fun, uncrowded waves.
Praia do Sul
Ericeira's town beach, nestled in a sheltered bay. It's the most accessible spot with changing rooms and cafés nearby. Perfect for a quick session or learning the basics.
