    How the salty nap collects, uses and protects your personal data.

    Who we are

    The data controller is Elżbieta Magdalena Grecka, a sole trader operating The Salty Nap, a tourist accommodation in Ericeira, Portugal.

    Data we process

    • Booking details: name, email, phone number, address, dates of stay, number of guests and booking notes.
    • Payment data: card details are entered directly with Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers.
    • Messages you send us by email, through the contact form or on WhatsApp.
    • Identity document data of foreign guests, which Portuguese law requires us to report to the authorities (SIBA / AIMA).
    • Website usage data collected by Google Analytics 4 — only if you accept analytics cookies.

    Purposes and legal bases

    • Performing the booking contract: managing your reservation, payment and stay.
    • Legal obligations: guest registration, invoicing and tax records, and the municipal tourist tax.
    • Legitimate interests: answering enquiries, keeping the house and website secure, and preventing fraud.
    • Consent: website analytics.

    Service providers and recipients

    • Beds24 — booking and channel management system.
    • Stripe — card payments.
    • Booking.com — only for bookings made there; Booking.com is a separate controller under its own privacy policy.
    • Microsoft 365 via GoDaddy — business email.
    • Google — Analytics, and the Google Maps embed on the contact page.
    • Lovable — website hosting.
    • WhatsApp / Meta — when you contact us there.
    • Portuguese public authorities — where required by law.

    International transfers

    Some providers (for example Stripe, Google, Microsoft and Meta) may process data outside the European Economic Area. Such transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.

    How long we keep data

    • Booking and invoicing records: as long as Portuguese tax law requires (up to 10 years).
    • Guest registration data: as required by law.
    • Enquiries: up to 2 years.
    • Analytics data: up to 14 months.

    Your rights

    You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting earlier processing.

    To exercise your rights, email takeanap@saltynap.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the Portuguese supervisory authority, CNPD (www.cnpd.pt).

    Cookies

    We use strictly necessary browser storage, for example to remember your cookie choice and language. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are set only after you consent. The embedded Beds24 booking form and Google Maps may set their own cookies.
