What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00. Message us on WhatsApp if you arrive earlier or need a later check-out and we will do our best to help. A valid ID card or passport is required at check-in.
Where is The Salty Nap and how do I get there?
The house is at Rua General Humberto Delgado 28, 2655-291 Ericeira, Portugal, about 7 minutes on foot from the town centre. From Lisbon Airport it is about 45 minutes by car via the A8 and about 35 minutes from Lisbon city centre. The Mafrense bus from Campo Grande terminal takes about an hour. We can also arrange an airport pickup.
How far is the house from the beaches and surf spots?
Ribeira d'Ilhas and Praia do Sul are about a 10-minute walk, Coxos about 15 minutes and São Lourenço about 20 minutes on foot. Foz do Lizandro, the best beginner beach, is a 5-minute drive.
How much does a room cost?
The Blue Room (balcony, ocean view) is €65 per night and The Beige Room (ocean view) is €60 per night, per room for up to 2 guests, with one rate all year round. The Green Room with its private ensuite bathroom is closed for renovation. The municipal tourist tax is not included and is paid on arrival.
Do the rooms have private bathrooms?
The Blue and Beige rooms share a bathroom on the corridor. The Green Room has its own ensuite bathroom but is currently closed for renovation.
Is breakfast included?
No, breakfast is not offered. Guests have free use of the fully equipped shared kitchen and the ocean-facing terrace with a BBQ.
Is there parking at the house?
There is no on-site parking, but free street parking is available near the house.
Can I store my surfboard at the house?
Yes. The house has a surfboard rack for secure board storage; please keep boards on the rack rather than in the common areas.
Can I bring my dog or cat?
Yes, pets are welcome on request for €15 per pet per night, after approval by our resident host cat Zaza. Please tell us before you book.
Is there a tourist tax?
Yes. The Mafra municipal tourist tax is €2.50 per guest per night from 1 May to 31 October and €1.20 from 1 November to 30 April, for guests over 12 and up to 7 nights. It is not included in the room price and is paid on arrival.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 7 days before check-in with a full refund of the amount paid. Cancellations less than 7 days before check-in and no-shows are non-refundable. Bookings made on Booking.com follow the policy shown there.

Can I work remotely from the house?
Yes. There is free fibre WiFi, a dedicated coworking space with an ocean view and a desk in The Blue Room, so the house works well for remote work and longer stays.
Do the rooms have air conditioning, and what are the house rules?
All rooms have air conditioning, fresh towels and fibre WiFi. The house is non-smoking indoors, quiet hours are from 22:00 to 08:00, and there is a shared book library and a washing machine (€10 per load).
Can I book surf lessons?
Surf lessons with certified local instructors cost €40 per session, all equipment included, in small groups of up to 4 people. Book at least 24 hours in advance.
